Implant Supported Bridge

Implant Supported Bridge

A full arch bridge is the conventional way of  replacing missing teeth. It is suitable for edentulous people, meaning they are missing all their natural teeth in their upper and/or lower arch. The bridge is supported by six dental implants and it is fixed by screws allowing the dentist to remove it easily if necessary for any maintenance work.

The Procedure

During your initial visit, any remaining teeth are removed, and if necessary,  bone augmentation procedures are completed to ensure your new implants will be securely held in place. If the bone and gum around the extracted teeth are healthy and free from infection, we might be able to place the dental implants immediately during the same visit. The implants are covered and left to heal. Otherwise, usually after extracting teeth in the upper jaw, there is a two-month healing period before we can place the dental implants during a second visit to our clinic.

Once the implants are in place, they must remain undisturbed for 3-6 months. The healing period allows time for osseointegration, where new bone grows on and around the implants, fusing them in place and securing them firmly in your jawbone. During healing, we will provide a temporary denture for you to wear, which is removable.

When healing is complete, you return to Budapest so we can uncover the dental implants and take a final impression to make your new bridge. Your bridge will either be made from porcelain fused to metal, where a strong metal substructure is covered with porcelain, or from zirconia, a strong ceramic material which is metal-free. Both restorations are carefully constructed to provide the proper support for the muscles in your cheeks and lips. Your new bridge will restore your facial appearance with teeth that feel natural and which provide excellent functionality.
